After a pause, The Starsmith is preparing to return with a new programme of interactive astronomy shows.
The relaunch brings a refreshed website, new show material and a renewed focus on creating astronomy experiences that are informative, entertaining and memorable.
The Starsmith shows combine striking space imagery, practical demonstrations, audience participation and clear explanations of some of the biggest ideas in science.
From gravity and the speed of light to telescopes, light pollution and the scale of the universe, each show is designed to make complex subjects feel accessible without losing their sense of wonder.
A show for curious minds
The Starsmith is not a traditional lecture.
The aim is to create a shared experience in which audiences can see ideas demonstrated, consider questions and explore how astronomy helps us understand the universe around us.
Shows are available for:
- pupils in Years 5 and 6
- public venues and visitor attractions
- community organisations
- private functions and hosted events
- hotels and cruise programmes
Standard Starsmith shows are indoor astronomy experiences and do not include stargazing.
Where a separate event at Witchmark Observatory includes telescope observing, this will always be stated clearly in the event information.
Public shows returning
New public dates are being planned, with further information to be announced through the Shows page.
The next stage is about bringing astronomy back to audiences in a way that feels exciting, welcoming and memorable.
The universe is waiting.
